Sculpey Soufflé Circles and Dots Bracelet

Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Using a 1/3 of a block of the Concrete make a flat sheet using the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting. Use the round cutter to cut out 12 circles. Repeat with Igloo and Poppy Seed. Set aside all circles.

Roll small snakes of each of the colors (Igloo, Concrete, Poppy Seed and Canary) that are about ¼ inch by 3 inches and stack them together.

Grasp each end of the stack and twist the stack as tightly as you can. Rolls this twist into a rough ball shape.

Lay the ball shape on your work surface and roll it out to about the same length as your original snakes of clay (3 inches). Grasp each end and twist again. The bands of color should be getting smaller and more intricate looking.

Roll the snake into a coil or another ball and run it through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1setting. This will yield a nicely marbled sheet of clay that you can punch out circles using the same cutter as before. You can even roll the clay up and run it back through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine if you need to! Cut out 8 circles of this marbled clay. Set aside.

Roll out another sheet of clay for Igloo, Concrete and Poppy Seed. Using the same cutter punch out two circles of clay. Roll each into a ball. Place the ball between your thumb and forefinger and gently press to flatten the ball slightly. Make two of these flattened balls for Poppy Seed and Concrete. Make one Igloo ball.

Roll a small portion of the Canary out on the #1 setting of the Clay Conditioning Machine and then set it to #2 setting and roll through again. Place this sheet of clay on the tile or non-porous work surface. Dip the “pearl” end of the small Etch and Pearl tool into the water and punch out 8 pearls per bead so you will need 40 pearls total.

Use the corner of the Sculpey Super Slicer to pick up each pearl and attach it to the side of a flattened ball, spacing the 8 pearls out along the edge of the ball. (about 1/8 inch apart).

Use the tip of the Etch and Pearl to drill holes in the center of each of the circles and the satellite beads. Make sure that the circles are flat on the sheet of paper and that no clay touches another piece of clay. Bake according to the directions above and allow the beads to cool after baking.

Once the clay has thoroughly cooled, string the beads with 8 circles between each of the five satellite beads. Select the colors in a random fashion. Tie the elastic off with a double knot. Tie the first knot loosely to gather all the beads together with no spacing. Tie the second knot tightly to make the knot permanent. Add a drop of clear, fast drying glue to seal the knot. Trim the ends with small scissors.
