Getting Started
Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.

Make three Skinner blends with more white than color, as shown.
Make a sheet of Poppy Seed and a sheet of 1/3rd of the Premo! Gold on the #5 Setting of your Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine.
Create sheets of the remaining Souffle Igloo and Premo! Gold. Stack into stripes.
Creating the Cane Components
Fanfold the Lagoon and Mai Tai blended sheets into soft triangles. Jellyroll the Turnip sheet.

Pinch the Turnip jellyroll into a triangle. Cut the three blended canes in half. Wrap all of the canes except one of the Turnip halves in black. Cut 4 slices of the striped stack.
Beginning Cane Assembly
Place a striped sheet over the Mai Tai and Lagoon halves. Place with sides aligned and insert the wrapped Turnip triangle.

Place a sheet of Gold on one side of the remaining Mai Tai and Lagoon canes. Cut in half. Put the two halves of the Mai Tai cane together with the gold sides touching. Place the Lagoon canes on either side.
Final Cane Assembly
Cut the first cane in half. Place the second cane on top as shown.

Wrap the remaining Turnip cane on two sides with Gold and one side with Poppy Seed.
Cut in half and put gold sides together. Reduce o twice the length of the big cane. Place into the top of the cane as shown. Compress into a square.
Pandorafying a Perfectly Good Cane
I like to change the cane shapes at this point, causing an intentional distortion I call “Pandoraficationâ€. To me, this is key to the design. Place the cane onto one of the corners. Press down gently, forming a flat area. Souffle is perfect for Pandorafication because it’s yielding yet maintains the cane integrity. Continue to squeeze the cane from the sides, forming a triangle. Trim off the ends and refrigerate the cane for one hour.
I like to change the cane shapes at this point, causing an intentional distortion I call “Pandoraficationâ€. To me, this is key to the design. Place the cane onto one of the corners. Press down gently, forming a flat area. Souffle is perfect for Pandorafication because it’s yielding yet maintains the cane integrity. Continue to squeeze the cane from the sides, forming a triangle. Trim off the ends and refrigerate the cane for one hour.
Try slices of your cane in all kinds of configurations. I never reduce and assemble my triangles into one big kaleidoscope. Instead, I use slices to create one project at a time, reducing as I need to. You can even Pandorafy your cane again by forcing two triangles into a square. The main thing is to experiment, have fun, and enjoy your pretty cane
Jewelry Instructions
Cut six slices from triangular cane. Combine into a hexagon. Roll over lightly to bond. Reduce a two inch piece of the triangular cane to approximately four inches long. Cut in half. Combine the halves to form a square. Reduce and recombine if desired. Cut three pieces of square cane.

From scrap ends, form a base for the shield piece of the pendant. Make a diamond shape to fit one of the squares. Using your flexible Super slicer. Cut cane to fit the scrap bases.
Mix the Premo! Accents Gold and Antique Gold together. Make a sheet of gold on the #2 setting of your clay machine. Cut an even strip long enough to go around the shield piece. Set strip aside. With your texture sheet, emboss the rest of the sheet. Place the textured sheet face down. Lay your two pendant parts and the two extra squares on the textured sheet and cut out with a craft knife.
Wrap the gold strip around the shield piece. With your craft knife, make slits in the top corners and insert the bails using a dab of Sculpey Bake n’ Bond. And you know that little head pin? Cut off the head and wrap the pin around a pen to form a loop. Make a hook in one side as shown, to keep the loop from coming out. Thread the looped head pin onto the bezel and insert “legs†into the point at the bottom of the shield. Place the dangle firmly onto the bezel finding with Bake’n Bond.
For the earrings, place the decorative head pin into the top (I snapped off the pin part because I just wanted the top) with Bake n’ Bond. Option: pierce a hole in the top of the earring and use rings to attach them to the ear wires.
Smooth all pieces before baking by lightly “petting†them with the pad of your finger.
When cool, coat with Sculpey Gloss Glaze. Attach your chosen chain to the bails. WOW, that’s worth the work, isn’t it?
