Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake/cure clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6
mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking/curing; however please note that the
baking/curing times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take
longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE
MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Step 2

Mix 1/4 of the Premo White block and 1/4 of Premo Pearl block together. Run this
custom color through the conditioning machine on setting 3. Cut 12 oval shapes
out of the sheet of clay with the mini oval cutter. With the needle tool,
sketch 5 lines from the bottom of the shape towards the center. These will be
flower petals!

Step 3

Take 3 of the flower petals and arrange in a circle like shown in the picture. This
is the first layer of the daisy.

Step 4

Similarly to step 3, take 3 more petals and arrange them on top of the first layer of petals like shown in the picture below. Using the needle tool, put a hole on the top
and bottom of the flower before baking.

Step 5

Mix small equal amounts of both Premo Yellow and the White and Pearl mixture
together.

Roll a small pea sized ball for the center of the flower. Add to center of the flower.

Using the
needle tool, add texture to the center by poking the clay several times until
you reach the desired effect.

Step 6

Run 1/4 of a Premo Sage Pearl block through the condition machine on setting 3. With the mini tear drop cutter, cut out 4 shapes from the sheet. With the needle
tool, sketch lines down the center and sides to represent leaves for the
earrings. Be sure to add holes to the top of each leaf before baking!

Step 7

Repeat steps 1 through 4. You should have two daisies and 4 leaves. Bake according to Step 1 above.

Step 8

With jewelry cutters, cut two 1-inch and two 3/4-inch length necklace chain pieces. After all the clay pieces are baked, connect the earrings together following the
pattern shown in the picture.

Step 9

You now have a simple, yet beautiful pair of earrings for the summer!
