Sculpey Non-Dry™ Leo the Lion

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, or disposable foil.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth. Wash hands after use. This clay doesn’t dry out so after you are done playing with it put it in a container that will protect it from dirt and dust. Does not need to be an air-tight container as this clay will never dry out.

To make Leo start by color mixing, combine equal amounts of yellow clay and mustard clay. Blend until you have a solid color.

To make his lower body make a flattened oval out of the blended yellow clay.

To make his upper body take a ball of yellow clay and flatten one end and attach to the top of the oval, smooth.

To make a neck add a small flattened ball of yellow clay to the top of the body.

To make front legs take two snakes of yellow clay and flatten the bottom and using a toothpick or a clay tool make indents for toes. Attach to the front of the body.

To make back feet take two balls of yellow clay and flatten one side and using a toothpick make toes. Attach on either side of the legs.

To make chest hair take brown clay and flatten a disc and make some points on one end, texture. Attach under the neck.

To make the tail make a snake of yellow clay, on one end attach a ball of yellow and brown clay that you textured with a toothpick. Attach to the back of the body.

To make the head take a ball of yellow clay and taper one end and flatten the other.

To make jowls take two balls of orange clay and poke some holes. Attach to the front of the head.

To make a jaw flatten an oval of yellow clay and flatten one end. Attach to bottom of the head under the jowls.

Make two fangs out of white clay by tapering two small snakes. Attach on either side of jaw.

To make a nose take a small ball of brown clay and flatten one end between your thumb and forefinger. Attach to top of jowls.

To make eyes take two balls of white clay and attach behind nose. Flatten two tiny balls of brown clay and attach to eyes to make eyeballs. Take two tiny snakes of orange clay, flatten and attach to top of eyes for eyelids.

To make ears flatten two balls of yellow clay and two smaller balls of brown clay. Place the brown clay on top of the yellow and attach on either side of the eyes.

To make the mane take a disc of brown clay, roll out five or six balls of brown clay and orange clay. Flatten into a petal shape and texture. Attach in a circle around brown disc. Alternating colors. Attach the head to the center of the mane and attach both to the neck.
