Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven
Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured
clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.
Be sure to
cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together.  Wash hands
after use.

 Baking:

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such as metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) of thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking
times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat
up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

 Note for Teachers:

A class of 24 students will require Sculpey III 2 oz bars (12) Teal Pearl, (3) Just Orange, (6) Tan, (3) Chocolate, (1) White, (3) Lemonade, (3) Candy Pink, (1) Yellow, (1) Blue, (1) Granny Smith, (1) Purple

Step 2

Note for teachers: index cards are a good way to keep
organized. Give each student an index card and have them write their name on
the top corner. As pieces are ready to go into the oven for baking, they can be
placed on the index card. Index cards can go into the oven with the project
keeping the pieces all together all the way through the process.

Step 3

Use the White Plastic Roller to sheet 1/2 bar Teal Pearl to a sheet that is large enough to cover the top of the mint box.

Step 4

Place the sheet on top of the tin. Smooth air bubbles out with your fingertips. Roll over the clay to help it seal flat to the lid.

Step 5

Turn the box over and trim the corners to match the lid as shown. Also trim excess clay to leave 1/8” extra all the way around the lid.

Step 6

Push the edges of the clay over the sides of the lid. Smooth the clay with fingertips.

Step 7

Score guidelines in the clay lightly to show where the tic tac toe grid will go.

Step 8

Roll 1/8 bar of Just Orange into a thin rope. Lay the ropes on the guidelines to form the game board. Trim as needed with tools.

Step 9

Add lines around the outside of the game board and trim as needed with tools. Set the box aside on the index card to be baked.

Step 10

Divide 1/4 bar of Tan into six equal size pieces. Shape them into thick little discs for donuts.

Step 11

Divide 1/8 bar of Chocolate into six equal pieces. Flatten each one and place on top of a donut. Poke a hole all the way through both the Chocolate frosting and the donut.

Step 12

Decorate the donuts with White sprinkles. Place on the index card for baking.

Step 13

Divide 1/8 bar of Lemonade into six equal short cylinders for the cupcakes.

Divide 1/8 bar of Candy Pink into six equal domes for the frosting.

Step 14

Place one frosting on top of each cake. Use a tool to push texture into the frosting.

Step 15

Use a flat tool to score lines around the sides of the cake.

Step 16

Decorate with sprinkles in Yellow, Blue, Purple, and Granny Smith. Place the cupcakes on the index card for baking. Place index cards on a baking tray.

Step 17

Bake the box and the game pieces on the index card. Allow to cool completely before handling.
