Sculpey III Geometry & Tassel Necklace

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking:

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Mix 2 parts white, 1 part Lemonade, 1 part Hot pink and 1/16 part of black clay, to create a nice Light coral shade.

With 3 parts white, 1 part of your new colour, 1 part lemonade, 1 part hot pink and 1/16 part black, twist the clay together and flatten it to create a marble effect.

Roll some black clay really thin, and cut “sprinklesâ€ in it. Put them on flattened white clay sheet.

Use your acrylic roller to gently smooth the sheet and create the black and white pattern

Flatten your marble sheet, the sprinkle sheet, some black and coral clay into same thickness sheets

Cut random shapes in each and assemble them in a new sheet. Roll them up with a roller to fix them. Adding really thin stripe of black clay will give a good contrast to the finished piece

Use the largest cutter (2 inch), and your blade, cut the sheet in a semi round shape

Put some tape onto the clay to apply between them some golden powder. Remove the tape, edges are perfect straight lines. The golden color will add a nice shining detail.

To give some more details, use a dotting tool to texture plain color stripes.

Use the small round cutter to create the holes for tassels and necklace. It’s time to bake your polymer clay piece.

using cardboard, wind cotton thread around the 2 inches side. Use different colors to add shading. 8 loops minimum. Think of the size of holes

Cut your loops in one place and insert them in one of the holes.

With another thread, knot the tassel on the top to fix it.

Trim ends with scissors

re-do the process for each tassel.

Cut out 33 inches in thin brown and beige leather cord and knot them in the middle, in the top hole of the necklace

Glue the finishing findings to the ends of cords. Add the jump rings and the lobster clasp.

And you’re done ! You got a nice trendy and unique necklace.
