Project Instructions
Getting startedDo not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 C) for 15 minutes per ¼” (6mm) thickness. For best bakingresults, use and oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEEDTHE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use.Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 degrees F (130 C). Test temperature with oven thermometerfor perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the claydedicated pasta machine on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insertthe fold side into the rollers first.
Condition ½ a block of Original Sculpey. Run it through your Sculpey Clay Machine on the #1 setting. Fold it in half.
Using the house template provided or your own, cut out the house shape and the door. Smooth all edges with your fingertips. With the end of your paintbrush press a doorknob on the door and then open the door slightly.
Using the Sculpey 5 in 1 tool make vertical, angular lines going down from the roof. Using the same tool make lines for the brick on the chimney. Make indentations for the roof shingles using the end of a Sculpey Etch and Pearl tool.
Use your little heart cutter and cut out a heart shape at the peak of the roof.
Use your letter stamps and press the words “NEW HOME” above the door.
Using the back of one of your letter stamps press and create a window. Run a small amount of clay through your clay machine on the #2 setting and cut out a little window box shape and 3 flowers with the flower cutter. Press the box under the window and then press the 3 littleflowers on the box towards the top.
Bake according to the directions in Step 1.
Paint the inside of the heart cut out and the letters on your piece with the Red acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely and then attach a red ribbon for hanging.
