Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Roll two balls of Granite clay one 1- 1/4” in size and the other 2-3/4” in size approximately. Roll two small balls approximately 3/8” in size.
Shape the 1-1/4” sized ball into a raccoon head shape giving it a pointed nose and big cheeks that kind of point out on either side. Shape the two 3/8” sized balls into triangle shapes for the ears. Use the end of your paintbrush or ball tool and press indents in the ears.
Use a drop of Liquid Sculpey on the bottom of each ear and attach then on to the top of the head. Set the head aside for now.
Form the raccoon’s body by turning the large ball of clay into an oblong shape. Pinch and pull to create a chubby tail at one end.
Pinch and pull a bit in the front to create two arms extending out in front. Pinch a bit on the side of the body back near the tail to create some back feet.
Attach the head using some Liquid Sculpey where the head and body will meet. Press the head on firmly.
Use your cell phone now to make sure the raccoon figure will hold the phone. You may have to press the phone down into the body slightly and make and indent.
Make adjustments to be sure you are happy and that the phone is in a good position. Remove the phone and smooth and refine your raccoon.

Bake according to package directions. Allow to cool completely. (Optional) If you want to smooth your raccoon further use some 400 grit Wet/Dry sandpaper under some running water and sand out any bumps. Use your Acrylic paints to paint the face, tail and feet however you like best. Allow paint to dry completely.
