Why Choose Sculpey Soufflé™?

While both beginner and experienced clayers often choose Sculpey Soufflé™ as their chosenSculpey® line, the clay is also a favorite among professional artists.

Sculpey Soufflé™ is a lightweight polymer clay known for its durable nature and ability to hold fine details — especially when it comes to mixed media projects and one-of-a-kind home decor items. This clay has a beautiful suede finish and will not crack when used to make large-scale masterpieces.

What's the Difference Between Sculpey Soufflé™, Sculpey Premo™ and Sculpey III®?

While there are several differences between Sculpey Soufflé™, Sculpey Premo™ and Sculpey III®, there are also some straightforward ways to tell these three lines apart:

  • Sculpey Soufflé™: This clay holds shape during modeling, is easy to condition and will not crack or break when baking large pieces. Adult crafters, sculptors and artists prize Sculpey Soufflé™ as it is lightweight and perfect for jewelry making.
  • Sculpey Premo™: Another favorite among adult artists, Sculpey Premo™ is more durable and flexible. This clay is ideal for home decor and functional items for everyday use.
  • Sculpey III®:Sculpey III® is popular among adult beginners and kids, is easy to use and has a matte finish when baked.

Can I Paint on Polymer Clay?

After curing, you can paint on any oven-bake clay, including the clays from the Sculpey Soufflé™ Multipack. For the best results, use water-based acrylic paints and test an out-of-sight section of your project first. Then apply the paint and allow it to dry entirely before observing for any interactions with the clay.

It's also helpful to test a concealed section of your project before glazing a painted piece. As above, apply the glaze and let it dry completely before noticing any interactions.

You can use any paint on your Sculpey Soufflé™ creation if you seal the piece with two or three thin layers of Sculpey® Gloss Glaze. Apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat for the best coverage.

Will sealing my clay piece with Sculpey® glaze make it waterproof?

No, using Sculpey glazes will not make your creations waterproof.

Sculpey Soufflé™ Is Ideal for Making Jewelry

You can use Sculpey Soufflé™ with Liquid Sculpey® to make any number of eye-catching jewelry designs. Whether you're interested in bracelets, pendants, beads or necklaces, the sky's the limit to what you can create with the Sculpey Soufflé™ Multipack.

Try using a section of the Liquid Sculpey® Lace Mold design to make earrings by layering the baked liquid lace pieces over various Sculpey Soufflé™ clays found in this multipack. If you are unsure which type of clay to choose for your earrings or other design, our team is always happy to offer recommendations.
