Master the Popular Mokume Gane Clay Jewelry Making Technique

Mokume Gane is a must-try method for turning Sculpey® oven-bake clay into gorgeous jewelry items. What is Mokume Gane, and why is it so different from other crafting techniques?

The Mokume Gane method of making items started in Japan. Mokume Gane focuses on layering materials to add texture, visual interest and detail. Jewelry made in the Mokume Gane style typically has an organic feel and may resemble patterns found in nature, such as wood grains, feathers, stones, eyes and colorful sands.

Once you become accustomed to making your own Mokume Gane jewelry out of Sculpey® polymer clay, you'll spot Mokume Gane items wherever you go. This method is one jewelry-making technique trend that's destined to last.
