Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Use the Acrylic Clay Roller to roll 1/2 block of Bluestone to a sheet 1/8” thick.
Smooth the Desert pattern, shiny side down, to the clay sheet. Squirt a line of white acrylic paint across the top of the pattern.
Holding the squeegee at a 45 degree angle above the paint, use firm pressure to drag the paint across the screen.
Immediately peel the screen away and clean with water. Dry the screen thoroughly before going on to the second color.

Allow the paint on the clay to dry completely.
Line up the Agate screen, shiny side down, on top of the Desert image. Squirt a line of black acrylic paint across the top of the pattern.
Holding the squeegee at a 45-degree angle above the paint, use firm pressure to drag the paint across the screen.
Check to make sure the paint is even.
Immediately peel the screen away and clean with water.
Dry thoroughly before going on to the second set of screens for the second earring.
Allow the paint to dry completely. Repeat Steps 2-10 to make a second duo colored screen on the clay for your second earring.
Next, use the Circle Cutters to cut out a 1.75” circle. Then remove a 1.25” ring from inside the 1.75”. Cut the center out of that circle with the 1” and then finally, the center out of the 1” with the .75” cutter. You will have 3 rings and a circle. Repeat for the second earring.
Set the 1.25” rings aside - they will not be used in this design. Line up the circle and the rings as you would like to make earrings.

Poke a neat hole in the bottom of the circle with the 2mm Ball Tool. Poke first through the front and then through the back to make the hole nice and tidy. Repeat for the second earring.

Bake the pieces following the baking instructions for Sculpey SouffléTM. Allow them to cool completely.
To assemble, open a jump ring with flat nose pliers. Thread the jump ring through the hole in the top piece and place the clay rings onto the jump ring. Close with pliers.
Glue posts to the backs with fast drying super glue or silicone glue and allow to dry completely.
