Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best)
before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash
hands after use.

Baking:

Begin by preheating oven to 250°F (121°C). After you are done creating; for best
results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index
card or the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat at 250°F (121°C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions.  Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up.  For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. BAKING SHOULD BE DONE BY AN ADULT.

Step 2

From 1/2 bar of Lime, form a cone shape. Place the wider side of the cone down on the work surface. If you want to, you can push a pencil into the smaller area of the cone (which should be facing upward) to create an eraser that’s a pencil
topper. This step is not necessary if you prefer a handheld eraser,

Use a tool to make straight line marks all the way around the outside of the cone shape so it looks like a cupcake liner.

Step 3

Carefully remove the pencil.

Step 4

Carefully flip the cupcake bottom right side up.

Step 5

Make a little lump of White clay and place it in the center of the cupcake bottom. Dome it so it’s thicker in the center.

Step 6

From 1/2 block of White, form a long rope about 1/4” thick and press on the sides of it to make it square all along its length.

Step 7

Twist the square rope to form ridges.

Step 8

Coil the rope all around the dome on top of the Lime cupcake bottom until you reach the top. Pinch off excess clay as needed to make frosting,

Step 9

To make pink clay, mix equal parts White and Red.

Create tiny balls of Lime, Yellow, Pink, Red, and Blue. Decorate your cupcake.

Bake the cupcake following the baking instructions for Bake Shop® Eraser Clay.

Allow to cool completely before using.
