Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started with Getting Started with Sculpey® Bake Shop

Bake at 275 °F (130 °C) 15 minutes per 1/4 inch (6 mm) thickness.

To avoid cracking or burning your craft, use an oven thermometer to gauge heat and avoid going over the necessary baking time.

An adult should take care of the baking in a home oven or toaster oven. Never use a microwave to bake the clay.

DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING
TIME.

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey Tools™ Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area
appropriately.

Step 2

Condition a 3-inch ball of White clay by rolling it for a few minutes between your hands until it becomes soft. Mix it with a ½-inch ball of green and ¼-inch ball of yellow clay to create lime
green.

Step 3

Flatten it out to form a 4-inch-long oval – around ¼-inch thick. Cut out a 1-inch hole at one end for your cactus. Press down a round tool at the other to create the indent for the phone (you can use a pencil for example).

Step 4

Roll a 2-inch ball of green clay and two 1-inch balls and form the cactus body and arms. Create two holes with your needle tool on each side of the body to insert the arms.

Step 5

Using your needle tool add texture to all the cactus parts.

Step 6

Roll out 10 tiny strips of pink clay.  Gather 5 together to make a flower, add a
yellow centre. Repeat to make the second flower.  Stick one flower to the top of the cactus and one flower to the base.

Step 7

Roll two tiny balls of black clay and stick them onto the cactus for the eyes.

Roll out a thin strip of black clay and place between the eyes for the mouth.

Roll out two tiny pink balls of clay and place each side of the eyes for the cheeks.

Insert the cactus into the flat base and press down to make it stick.

Bake for 30 minutes at 275 F. Allow to cool before handling
