Project Instructions
Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by working small amounts in your hand until smooth and soft.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the thinnest setting create a sheet pf Translucent clay. Smooth onto a piece of baking parchment. Silk Screen in silver using the Sculpey Silk Screen sheet with the bird on it. Set aside.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the thinnest setting create a strip of each color of Souffle clay, Seaglass, Turnip and Canary. Place the colored strips side by side to form a sheet about the size of the Translucent clay which has been silk screened. Place the Translucent sheet over the three colors and roll over them to bond them together.
Cut out 2 leaves of each color with the smallest oval shape cutter.
Place the pieces onto the Hollow Bead Maker. Pierce each with the needle toll from the Clay Tool Starter Set. Bake as directed above.
Cool the "leaves" and coat with Sculpey gloss glaze. Attach chain to all leaves.
Hang the leaves on the center jump ring. Attach to ear wires. Adorable!
