Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Smooth the white clay provided in the Keepsake Kit into the ring mold. Wash and dry your furry friend’s paw. To get the paw impression, it helps to have someone stand right next to you and hold your pet. Place the clay ring on your left palm and gently press your pet’s paw into the clay with the flat of your right palm. Don’t worry, you can always re-form the clay into the ring and try it again if necessary. Place the ring into the refrigerator with the clay in it, while you make the charms.
Roll a ball of Souffle Cowboy into a marble sized ball. Press the ball into the mold and trim flat on the back with your Super Slicer. Squeeze Liquid Sculpey Red into the large heart shape and Puppy Bowl shape. Squeeze Liquid Sculpey Gold into the paw shapes and the dog tag shape. Tap the mold gently to check for air bubbles. Pop any air bubbles that you see. Bake at 275 F (135 C) for 30 minutes. Let cool before removing the baked pieces.
When the ring mold is slightly chilled, gently remove the ornament from the ring. The ring is not bakeable.
Arrange the molded shapes just the way you want them. Then press them into the ornament. You won’t need adhesive. Bake the ornament as directed on the Keepsake Kit package instructions.
Use acrylic paint to embellish your molded pieces: paint the raised letters on the Puppy Bowl, add a name to the dog tag, paint the dog’s eyes and nose black, the tongue pink, and any fur patterns or markings you want!
