The new web exclusive Sculpey Premo™ Apricot is a great color all on its own, but also, to help POP the other colors in your design. These two canes are simple; but, as you work with the leftover canes, you’ll think of lots of variations. For caners, the joy is, literally, exponential.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES
- 1/8” diameter CaneBender or other 1/8” rod
- Brass channel bangle blanks, any width (I used 3/8”)(2)
- Small brush or swab to apply adhesive
Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Condition all three clay colors. Make a log of the Apricot, 3” long by 3/4” around.
Cut the log in half. Lay a strip of #5 Navy onto one half of the log.
Put the halves back together. Wrap the log in a #4 sheet of navy. Reduce to 6” long.
Pinch into a teardrop and cut into three 2” pieces. Place the pieces together with the pointed ends touching.
Lay a sheet of #4 White over the cane. Push the white clay into the grooves with a small smooth rod.
Repeat with a #4 sheet of Navy.
Place White snakes into the grooves.
Smooth the cane and force it into a triangle. Set aside.
Make a Skinner blend with about 2/3rd of your remaining Navy and White. Form a long strip on a #5 setting.
Fanfold the strip and reduce to a 6” long teardrop shape.
Wrap the blended teardrop in a #2 sheet of white and cut in three 2” pieces. Set one piece aside.
Put the cane together as shown.
Fill the sides with triangles of White and add a #1 sheet of white at the bottom. Reduce to about 1/2”. Set aside.
For the second cane, reduce the remaining teardrop to 3”. Cut into 3 pieces. Assemble as shown.
Make an indentation in the center top of each teardrop shape.
Place an Apricot snake in the grooves and in the bottom where the three teardrops meet.
Place #3 strips of white in the spaces that are left.
Place a #4 sheet of Apricot on the cane. Cut in half and put them back to back. Make a template for your fill.
Create a stack of Apricot the height of your cane. Cut out pieces to match your template. I used a 1-1/4” Sculpey Round Graduated Cutter.
Reduce the first cane and take a look at the scale. Reduce and combine in the configuration that compliments your project. In this case, I was going small; so, I only reduced part of the canes for what I needed.
Apply Sculpey Oven Bake Clay Adhesive to the channel bangle blanks. Place strips of cane into the channels and bake for 30 minutes at 275F.
