Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Lightly spray the texture sheet with water and press firmly into a sheet of conditioned clay rolled out on the widest setting. (NOTE: I put a block of wood on top of the stamp and press or stand on the wood to get an even impression)
Trim 3 pieces to the width of your ribbon crimp. My crimps are ¾ inch wide.
Touch your fingertip into the lid of the mica powder and gently wipe across the top portions of the textures.
Lightly press the strips onto the side of the soda can. Bake as directed in Step 1 above.
After the clay has baked and cooled, pop the clay off the soda can. Brush the paint colors onto the baked clay and quickly wipe with a baby wipe to remove from the upper surfaces. Allow the paint to dry.
Trim your favorite piece to the width of the top of your wrist. Gently press the ribbon crimps into place and add a jump ring on each crimp. The width of the two other pieces will be determined by the size of your clasp. I prefer to attach the ribbon crimps to ONE side of each of these pieces and hook them with the jump rings to the center piece. THEN I can determine how much to cut off each one to fit properly. Use your blade to trim the baked clay and add the final ribbon crimps. Add your clasp and your bracelet is ready to wear!NOTE: If you need to remove a crimp, I find using an Exacto knife works well to slide under the crimp, rotate the knife to loosen the crimp. Adjust the length of the clay piece and recrimp!
