Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Create a small ball of Black clay approximately ¾” in size.
Run a small piece of Black clay through the clay conditioning machine on the #3 setting. (If you are using an acrylic roller you want the thickness to be approx. 1/16”). Use a ¾ round cutter to cut out your pot lid.
Take the Black ball and flatten the bottom enough so the ball doesn't roll. Then apply some Bake and Bond to the top of your ball and apply your cut out ¾ circle on top.
Using the other end of your 8mm Style and Detail tool make a small impression in the top to help adhere the two pieces.
Stamp a shamrock stamp into the front of your pot. (If you don’t have a stamp you can just free hand it with paint after you baked your piece)
Condition a piece of Gold clay and run it through the # 3 setting of the clay conditioning machine. (or if you are using an acrylic roller you want the thickness to be approx. 1/16” thick.) Lightly spray your clay with water so your cutter won’t stick and cut out approx. 10 -12 mini circles for the coins in the pot of gold.
Apply some Bake and Bond in the hole and stack your mini circle coins in and around the hole.
Cut a 2” piece of 20 gauge gold wire with your wire cutter tool and bend it in an arch. (to make a smoother arch you can wrap it around a cap – we used a nail polish cap)
Separate your glass seed beads and insert them on your wire according to the rainbow: L to R: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo & Violet
Apply Bake and Bond to the ends and insert it into the top of your gold coins pile.
Bake in your oven according to the directions above.Once cooled, Paint your shamrock Green.
Apply a coat Sculpey Gloss Glaze to the Gold coins. Use a dot of clear, fast drying glue behind the Violet glass bead, so the beads won’t slide to the other end of the wire arch.
*if you are planning on making this into a necklace make sure you insert an eyepin in the center back of the pot of gold before you bake your piece.
