Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Cat Eye Glasses:1. From 1/2 block of Purple Pearl, remove two 1/2” balls of clay and set these aside. Roll the remainder of the 1/2 block of clay into two equal size ropes with tapered ends. 2. Touch the two tapered ends together making cat eye shapes. 3.Shape one of the balls from Step 1 into a bridge as shown. Smooth the bridge so it blends into the lenses. 4.Flatten the remaining ball from Step 1 and glue the tip of a skewer pushing it into the clay. 5.Position the ball and skewer under one side of the glasses as shown. Bake as directed above.
Instructions - Lips:1.From 1/2 block of Red Hot Red, remove one 1/2” ball of clay and set it aside for now. Roll the remainder of the 1/2 block of clay into two equal size pieces that are thick in the middle and tapered on both ends. 2.Push the lips together pinching the tapered ends slightly upward. 3.Flatten the ball from Step 1 and glue the tip of a skewer into it. Position the lips over the ball sandwiching the skewer in place. Shape the lips by pushing a dent into the top lip. 4.Use the knife tool to score little creases in the lips. Bake as directed.
Mustache:1.From 1/2 block of Black, remove one 1/2” ball of clay and set it aside for now. Roll the remainder of the 1/2 block of clay into two equal size pieces that are thick on one end and tapered on the other end. 2.Make a little rod of White about 1.5” long and cut it in half as shown. 3.Put some white glue on the tip of a skewer. 4.Flatten the white pieces so they look like teeth laying side by side. Lay the skewer alongside the teeth. 5.Carefully place the flattened ball from Step 1 under the skewer. Roll the tips of the mustache up. Flatten the mustache pieces over the top of the teeth and over the skewer. Bake as directed.
- Dog Nose:1.From 1/2 block of Tan, remove one 1/2” ball of clay. Glue the tip of a skewer onto the flattened ball. From the remainder of the 1/2 block, form two fat teardrop shapes. Place them over the skewer and flattened ball as shown. 2.Make a large dog nose out of Chocolate. Push it into place over the top of the muzzle. Poke holes in for nostrils. 3.Poke little marks in the muzzle for whiskers holes. If you want, you can cut whiskers from fishing line and poke them into the muzzle. Bake as directed.
Uh Oh Thought Bubble:1.From 1/2 block of White make a large ball and two smaller ones. Flatten each ball. Glue the tip of a skewer to the back of the large one. [Uh Oh01.jpg]2.Roll a thin rope of Sky Blue and border each circle with the rope. Trim the ends and smooth the seam with your finger. 3.Position the bubbles as shown. Bake as directed. 4.When completely cool, you can write Uh Oh on the bubble with permanent marker.
What? Speech Bubble:1.From 1/2 block of White make a large ball and a small triangle shape. Flatten both pieces. Glue a skewer onto the back of the large bubble.2.Press the triangle onto the side of the bubble and smooth the seam with your finger. Roll a thin rope of Sky Blue and border the speech bubble with it. Trim and smooth the seam. Bake as directed. 3.When completely cool, you can write What? on the bubble with permanent marker.
