Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Surface: For the best results in sculpting and crafting with air dry clay, plan to work with a smooth, well-cleaned, non-porous surface.

Amount: Because the clay is made to air-dry, try to open only what you need at the time and leave the rest still wrapped or sealed and stored. Pinch or cut off the amount you need and take more out as you go, even for larger projects.

Working: Knead your clay before you begin shaping it for your creations. Our polymer clay is already soft and pliable, but warming the clay with your hands is a good practice to spread the substance, condition the material and get a feel for what you’re working with.

Shaping: You can use a combination of your hands, crafting tools and multimedia materials to shape your clay into the design you desire, create unique patterns and textures and incorporate mixed media elements. Remember: you can create anything you can imagine! Just make sure the finished product is exactly what you want before allowing it
to dry.

Drying: Lay or stand your air dry clay projects on a nonporous surface with a clean and smooth finish in an area with low humidity. Let the projects remain untouched and undisturbed for about 24 hours to ensure complete hardening.

Step 2

From the block of Air Dry clay, remove a 1/4” slice. Immediately wrap the remainder of the clay up tight so it will not dry out and seal it in a zip-lock bag.

Condition the project clay until soft and smooth. Roll it into a patty that is about 3/16” thick with the Acrylic Clay Roller.

Step 3

Use hand pressure to impress the leafy texture into the clay. Once the texture sheet has bitten into the clay, roll over it with the Roller to make sure the texture is even.

Step 4

Carefully peel away the texture sheet. The texture sheet can be rinsed with water to clean it.

Step 5

Use the 1.75” Circle Cutter to cut a circle from the clay.

Step 6

Use the 1” Circle Cutter to cut out the middle of the clay off-center as shown.

Allow the pendant piece to dry overnight.

You can add the scrap clay to the remainder of the Air Dry for later projects if desired.

Step 7

Once the pendant piece is completely dry, it is time to finish it.

In the bottom of a mixing cup add a quarter sized amount of Glossy Glaze.

Step 8

Add one drop of blue acrylic paint.

Mix completely.

Step 9

Cover the pendant with the glaze mixture. Wipe excess off of the raised surfaces to create a tonal effect. Allow to dry completely.

Step 10

After the glaze mixture has dried, you can add another layer of Glossy Glaze if you want it even shinier.

Step 11

Allow this second coat of glaze to dry completely.

Step 12

Add a suede cord for wearing.
