Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Sheet 1/4 block of Amber Premo to a thickness of 1/8” either with the Acrylic Clay Roller or with a pasta machine on the thickest setting. Sprinkle a thin layer of iridescent large flake glitter over the surface.
Sheet the clay again to mix the iridescent flakes into the clay.
Place one drop of brown alcohol ink on the surface of the clay.
Carefully fold the clay sheet so that the alcohol ink is trapped between the layers.
Form the clay into a long square shaped rod with the alcohol just partially mixing into the clay. This little square rod is about 1/4” square.
Cut little pieces from the log between 1/2” and 3/4” long.
Flatten a piece of the clay large enough to cover the mounting plate on the ring. Carefully bend the edges of the clay over enough to catch the mounting plate.
Form the little cut off pieces into crystal shapes. These shapes are basically square logs but are tapered to a point at the tips. Press the tallest piece in the center of the design.
Add more smaller crystals around the outside of the piece in the middle. Make sure all the pieces are connecting to the adjacent ones. Make sure all the pieces are connecting well to the base. Make sure all the points are pointy and position them as you like.
Make sure the clay is capturing the mounting plate on the ring. Bake the ring following the baking instructions in Step 1. When the Amber Premo is baked the colors will be even deeper.
