Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Form a little 1” log of White Premo that is 1/2” thick. Border the log with smaller ropes of Rose Quartz, Mint Green, and Clearwater Blue.
Roll and twist the log so that the outside colors become flat to the sides of the White log.
Fold the snake in half and then in half again. This will help multiply the stripes
Roll and twist the log again into a little striped log 1.25” long.
Use the Super Slicer to cut the log in half lengthwise. Open the two halves of the log up and you will see that the pattern inside mirrors itself.
Lay each of the halves flat side down. Cut each log in half again lengthwise with the Super Slicer.
Open the little sliced logs up like a book to reveal two perfectly matched patterned pieces. Press the two pieces together carefully matching the images down the centers. Flatten the pieces slightly with the Acrylic Clay Roller sealing the pieces together.
Use an oval cutter that best fits the size of the logs to make two oval shaped pieces. Flip the oval pieces over so the striped side is showing. Imbed a 2” head pin down the center of each piece.
Gently pinch and smooth the clay over the head pins so they are completely trapped inside the clay. Flip the clay pieces back over and make sure the mirror image sides are nice and smooth.
Sheet Mint Green through the pasta machine on the second thickest setting. Sheet Graphite Pearl through the pasta machine on the second thickest setting. Cut out a 1” circle of Mint Green. Cut out a .75” circle of Graphite Pearl.
Cut each of these circles in half with the Super Slicer
Embed the eye of the 1” eye pin in the Mint Green half circle. Cover it up with the Graphite Pearl half circle to trap the pin inside. Repeat for each half circle making two sets.
Roll two 1/4” balls of Graphite Pearl. Press the balls of Graphite Pearl onto the head pin of the mirror image pieces. Flip the half circle Mint Green pieces over with the Mint Green on top. Decorate the Mint Green pieces with little random bits of Graphite Pearl to create speckles. Bake all the pieces following the baking instructions for Premo.
When the pieces are completely cool, trim the tails as needed to 3/8” lengths. Curl an eye into each of the tails using the round nose pliers.
Connect the top and bottom pieces together with jump rings. Glue posts to the back of the half circles and allow to dry completely
