Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Use your hands to make a round ball approx. 1.5 inches in diameter.

Place the ball onto your ceramic tile and using your thumb start to flatten ¾ of the ball. With the reminding ¼ of the ball start forming two ears with your fingers. Your piece should look like a chair with two backs.

Take a plastic egg and press down on the flatten part of the ball. Don’t press your egg all the way down through the clay, only enough so the plastic egg can sit up without falling over. (To avoid the plastic egg from sticking to the clay apply a little water to the clay before you pressing the egg down).

With the plastic egg in place, use your fingers to form the bunny ears approx. ¾ high by ½ wide. Also smooth around the base of the bunny and to form the head.

Once you are happy with your bunny form, take a 7mm Style and Detail tool and create a ½ long impression inside each of the ears.

Now use the clay knife tool (from the Clay Tool Starter Set) to sculpt a face for your bunny. Make a Y shape on the front center of your bunny to indicate the nose and mouth of the bunny. Then add three lines on each side for whiskers. To make eyes use a 5 mm Style and Detail tool.Carefully remove the plastic egg from your bunny. Smooth out the impression with your fingers.

Cut a ½ piece off a toothpick with your wire cutters. Apply some Bake & Bond onto the end and insert into the center back of the bunny for the tail placement. Leaving ¼ sticking out.

Roll a ¼ inch size ball with the White clay and insert it onto the end of the toothpick.

Ear Inserts - Mix some Turquoise and Pearl clay together and roll out a thin strip with an acrylic roller. With an x~acto knife cut two long oval shapes for the center of your bunny ears.Apply them in the center of your bunny ears ad use your 7 mm style tool to burnish them in.

Take a small piece of Ballerina clay and flatten out with your acrylic roller and with your x~acto knife and cut a small ¼ triangle for the nose.

Create a graphic decorative design in the center of the egg cup. First mix a small amount of Pearl clay with each color: Fuchsia, Cadmium Yellow, Turquoise & Tranquility for a slight shimmer. Add a small ball of Fuchsia clay in the center then add smaller ball around the shape in turquoise and Tranquility. Use your 8mm stylus to burnish them into the clay. Then add a small White ball of clay in the center of the Fuchsia and smaller ball of Yellow and burnished into the clay.

Bake in your oven according to the instructions above. Once cooled, lightly sand your piece before painting. Use a linoleum cutter to carve hair for your bunny (*if you don’t have a linoleum tool you could create this texture using your knife tool or even a toothpick. Just make sure to create texture before you bake the item if you use this method).

Use a toothpick, to apply Plum paint for the eyes and to make White dots for inside of the ears. Use a paintbrush for the mouth and whiskers Plum. Paint the tail in Pearl White paint. Once your paint has dried, apply two coats of matte glaze.

TIPS:1.All eggs are shaped differently, so make sure you test the egg/s that your going to use in the egg cup so they will fit before you bake your bunny egg holder.2.Once you know how to create the egg cup bunny, Use your creativity and make your bunny your own by changing the clay colors, design & finish of your bunny.
