Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Roll two ½ inch balls of conditioned Premo Cayenne.
Gently press on the center of the ball to make them into a lozenge shape, slightly tapered on one end.
Use the edge of the Super Slicer to cut small notches right next to each other along the bottom edge of the tapered clay. Make a second round of cuts in between the original row of notches. (these cuts overlap the first row).
Trim the smaller end of the bead and use the needle tool to press a hole in the center top about ¼ inch deep.
Bake as directed in Step 1. Once the clay has baked and cooled, slide a spacer bead on an eye pin, then a turquoise bead, followed by two more spacer beads. Trim the wire leaving about ¼ inch of wire. Gently push the wire into the hole in the baked bead – no excess wire should show. If the wire length is correct, glue the wire into place in the bead and add the ear wire to the eye pin. Repeat for the other earring.
