Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
The amount of clay you will need for each coaster is as follows: 1 ounce or 1/2 block of Black, 1/2 ounce or 1/4 block of each White, Teal Pearl and Purple, 1/16 block of Princess Pearl.
Condition each color separately and then roll each one into a log about 3” long.
Bundle the colors together as shown.
Roll the bundle of colors together as a log and twist to make stripes.
Roll the log up into a snail shape.
Knead the colors together with your fingertips to partially blend them. Finish up by rolling a smooth ball.
Flatten the ball into a thick pancake with your hands.
Roll over the pancake with the Acrylic Clay Roller to smooth it and flatten it more. Make sure it is at least 4” in diameter. Use your fingertip to drag one color into another in a swirling motion.
When you are happy with the colors as they are swirled together, roll over the circle one more time with the Acrylic Clay Roll to make sure it is really smooth on top. Place the circle template on top and cut around it with the 5-in-1 Knife Tool. Smooth the cut edges with your fingertips
