Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Roll a snake of White Glitter clay approximately 1/2” thick by 6” long.

Roll a snake of Black Glitter clay approximately 1/8” thick by 6” long. Twist the snakes together. Fold in half. Roll and twist again. Repeat this process several times to marble the clay colors.
Roll the clay into a marbled ball.

Flatten the clay with your fingers so that you can run it through the clay machine on the #1 setting.
Use a cup or dish (approx.. 2-1/2 to 3” in diameter) as a template to cut out a circle from this sheet. Smooth the edges of the circle with your fingertips. Press your circle in the inside or your glass dish. Push out from the center to remove any air bubbles between the clay and the dish.
Condition and run 1/4 block of Black Glitter clay through the clay machine on the #3 setting.

Use your little Flower/star cutter from the Sculpey Mini Cutters to cut out 10 or so stars.
Press the stars in a random fashion on the inside of your dish.

Bake in your oven at 275 degrees for 15 minutes. Allow to cool.
Cut 10 little sticky gems off the sheet. Peel off the sticky back and glue a gem in the center of each star with a drop of Super glue. Allow to dry. *optional: Use some Sculpey Gloss Glaze and only coat the little Black stars with gloss.
