Liquid Sculpey® Courage Pendant

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured Liquid Polymer Clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. - Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed - Wash hands after use (we have found that baby wipes work best)

Baking:

•It is important to use oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature.•Do not microwave the liquids. They must be baked in a Preheated oven at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for liquid colors and 300 ºF (149 ºC) for Clear – Do not exceed baking temperatures.•If your piece is less than 1/4” bake for 15 minutes. For thicker pieces that are 1/4” or above bake for 30 minutes. •If your liquid project has become yellowed or discolored in the oven, when you remake it, tent it by placing either – folding an index card in half and placing your project under it or by using aluminum foil over your project.

Fill the bottom third of the Bullet Shape with Garnet Metallic Liquid Sculpey® (LS). The mold is clear enough so that you can see from the side how much liquid you are adding. Dip the tip of the Needle Tool all the way down into the tip of the Bullet Shape to make sure any air trapped in that area is released. Be carefully not to puncture the mold with the needle. Carefully remove the Needle Tool and wipe it clean with paper towel.

Add a layer of Black LS next. Insert the Blunt Point Tool into the Black LS in the mold and gently coax some of the Black into the Garnet layer to create an uneven edge. Clean the tool with a paper towel.

Designer’s Tip - If you accidentally get some of the Black LS smeared around the edges of the mold where you do not want it, you can carefully remove it by swabbing it away with a cotton swab moistened with rubbing alcohol.

Next add a layer of Gold LS but do not fill the mold completely yet. Once again insert the tip of the Blunt Point Tool into the Gold layer and gently coax some of the Gold into the Black layer. Remove the tool and wipe it clean with paper towel.

Place one of the rods included with the 3D Jewelry Mold through the large jump ring. Position the jump ring so that its opening is at the bottom. Carefully dip the jump ring into the liquid and line the rod up so that it is held steady by the raised brackets perpendicular to the shape of the bullet on the top of the mold. Adjust the jump ring with the Needle Tool to make sure it is centered in the shape. Add more Gold LS to fill the mold all the way up to the edge.

Bake the mold following the baking instructions for LS. Allow the mold to cool completely. To remove the shape, push up from the pointed tip.

Designer’s Tip - If you have trouble removing the baked piece from the mold there are a couple of things you can try. Use the needle tool to create a gap between the baked piece and the mold being careful not to puncture the mold. Drag the Needle Tool all the way around the top edge of the piece. Next drip a drop of water or a drip of Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener into the gap where the Needle Tool is located. Drag the Needle Tool all the way around the top edge again. Push up from the bottom again and the piece will come right out.

Add the small jump ring to the large jump ring with flat nose pliers. Close the jump ring and string the chain through it.
