Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Mix 1/4 bar of Souffle Poppy Seed with 1/4 bar of Premo Yellow Gold Glitter. The channels in my bracelets are not very high, so I sheeted my clay out on the #4 (#0 being my thickest) setting on the Clay Conditioning machine. Trim one long edge and align that edge on your index card. I usually start with a trim at the very next line. In this case, I had rough-measured so I cut just INSIDE the line.
Begin laying the clay into your bangle. I gently stretch mine to fit and lay into the channel, but I like to cut the width as close as I can before I do this. Trim the two ends with a straight edge.
Trim the end of your second strip of clay and butt the edge up snuggly against the clay already in the channel.
Trim the other end to butt up tightly as well. I roll my filled bracelet on my clean index card to help blend the seams and flatten the clay to the bracelet form.
Use your clay blade to gently slide along the top side edge of the metal bracelet to remove an excess clay so that the metal edge shows evenly. You can also CAREFULLY slice the corner of the blade along the edge. This part is fussy-don’t drive yourself crazy with it!
Repeat for the other two blended colors – mixing both the Cherry Pie and Latte in 1:1 mixes with the Yellow Gold Glitter. Bake according to the directions in Step 1. Once the bracelets are cooled – they are ready to go – no glue needed! I choose not to glaze these because I liked the contrast between the Premo glitter and the matte surfaces of the Souffle clay.
