Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started with Liquid Sculpey®:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured Liquid Polymer Clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. - Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed - Wash hands after use (we have found that baby wipes work best)

Baking:

-It is important to use oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature.

-Do not microwave the liquids. They must be baked in a Preheated oven at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for liquid colors and 300 ºF (149 ºC) for Clear – Do not exceed baking temperatures.

-If your piece is less than 1/4” bake for 15 minutes. For thicker pieces that are 1/4” or above bake for 30 minutes.

-If your liquid project has become yellowed or discolored in the oven, when you remake it, tent it by placing either – folding an index card in half and placing your project under it by using aluminum foil over your project.

Here’s a tip for baking perfectly in silicone molds. Dampen a dish towel with water and wring out as much of the water as you can. Fold the damp towel so that the molds can sit level on top of it. The damp towel will slow down the curing process so that the LS will cure evenly throughout and avoid warping.

Step 2

Pour about 1/3 of the White Liquid Sculpey (LS) in your mixing bowl and add a couple of drops of the red and yellow dyes.  I started with 2 of each. Mix and set aside.
I used a popsicle stick to stir.

Step 3

Pour a slightly larger amount of the thoroughly mixed Clear LS into a second bowl and add 2 drops each of Red and Yellow dyes.

Step 4

If you wish, you can put a drop or so of each color onto a bakeable surface and bake for 15 minutes to see how the colors look after baking.

Step 5

Slowly fill the ring-shaped mold with the Transparent LS/Orange mix.

Step 6

Fill the diamond-shaped mold with the White LS/Orange
mix.

Carefully pick the mold up about 1/2 inch from the work surface and drop it onto the work surface again. You will notice the visible bubbles pop when you do this!  Repeat a couple of times.

Bake according to the directions in Step 1 above and allow to cool in the mold.

Repeat steps 5 and 6.

Step 7

Glue the orange ring to the peach triangle as shown.

Glue the post into position on the triangle.

Allow the glue to dry thoroughly and your earrings are done!

Step 8

The top pair of earrings are my first pair I made in the steps above.  The bottom pair have 2 more drops of Yellow mixed into the White LS/color drop mix. I still prefer the
original colors though! But that is how easy it is to create your own custom colors!
