Materials:
- Premo Sculpey in the
following colors:
- Gold 5303
- Green Pearl 5299
- Translucent 5310
- Sconce Décor E-Z Release
Push Mold APM19
- Coarse black embossing
powder (any Brand)
- Small amount of silver
leaf
- Small amount of burnt
umber acrylic Paint
- Short length of elastic
cord
- Needle tool for piercing
bead
- Cyanoacrylate glue gel
Directions:
- Roll each
portion into a snake, then stack the snakes together. Twist them
together, then roll the new snake smooth. Repeat as needed to marble
the shades of clay together.
- Roll the marbled
clay into a sheet approximately 1/8 inch thick. Use the template
and your Sculpey Super Slicer or craft knife to cut out two covers.
- Mist selected
stamp lightly with water and press it onto one cover to texture
it. Remove stamp. Replace the template and trim again if needed.
- Roll a small
amount of left over clay into a ball. Dip it into coarse black embossing
powder then roll the ball gently to adhere powder.
- Using selected
Push Mold, create embellishment and remove from mold.
- Make a bead
for the closure at this time as well.
- If another
layer is desired for the front of the book, flatten a portion of
gold clay and place a sheet of silver leaf on it. Roll the clay
thinner, forcing the leaf to crackle on the surface. Cut a small
rectangle from this sheet.
- Bake covers
and embellishments at 275 degrees F for 30 minutes. Allow to cool,
or plunge items into icy water.
- If antiquing
is desired, smear a liberal amount of burnt umber acrylic paint
onto clay pieces. Wipe away excess before paint dries.
- Create text
block by accordion folding a piece of paper 2.25 x 18 inches long
into a square.
- Tie bead onto
elastic, and secure under text block as it is adhered to the clay
covers.
- Glue embellishments
on front cover to complete
